Tomorrow U-District Light Rail Station Area Mobility Plan Community Workshop

A neighbor would like to share the  U District Mobility Group, a volunteer group who represents a wide variety of entities, including Children's' Hospital, UW, SDOT, Metro, WSDOT and others, is having an Open House and community workshop tomorrow evening to focus on barriers and opportunities.

The event is from 5-7:30pm at the University Heights Community Center.

The website says :

The U District Mobility Group is a community-led effort of neighbors, stakeholders, public agencies and nonprofit organizations, is coordinating opportunities to collect community members’ ideas on barriers, opportunities, and potential solutions. The goal is a community-driven, holistic, multimodal U District station area mobility plan.
To coordinate transportation improvement around U District Station, ensuring safe and reliable access for all, we need a coordinated plan to consider how people will safely and comfortably get to the station by: walking, biking, transit, & driving. The project will engage the U District community in a planning effort to create a holistic, community-driven station area vision with actionable recommendations that address access, safety and livability around the future light rail station.
The University District is undergoing significant changes, with the opening of light rail in 2021, the recently-approved rezone, the pending campus master plan, and other planned infrastructure projects. Our community wants to have a say in shaping how our neighborhood will be transformed.
The U District Mobility Group has raised $80,000+ to fund the project from the various contributors below. You may also donate online. U District Mobility is a project of U District Advocates, a 501c3 nonprofit, and donations to the project are tax-deductible.

The group is also holding a Survey to comment on how citizens get around the U District and requested improvements.
