Tonight Roosevelt Highschool Symphony Orchestra To Perform With Seattle Symphony

The Roosevelt Symphony Orchestra will be performing a free, side-by- side concert tonight with the Seattle Symphony tonight from 7-8:10pm at Roosevelt High School. Roosevelt is the reference high school for Laurelhurst. The new music director, Thomas Dausgaar, will be conducting his first community side-by-side performance. The evenings program inclues: PROKOFIEV - [SSO] Symphony No.1, "Classical" FARRENC - [RHS] - Adagio - Allegro from Symphony No. 3 in G minor TCHAIKOVSKY- [SSO/RHS] - Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture Following the performance there will be a brief reception in the RHS Library

Tonight Roosevel High School Orchestra Having "Side by Side" Concert With The Seattle Symphony



Tonight at 7:30pm the Seattle Symphony is doing a side by side concert with the Roosevelt High School orchestra, of which there are at least three students who attended Laurelhurst Elementary School.  

Symphony players sit side by with high school students in a one hour free family friendly concert taking place at Roosevelt High School (1410 NE 66th Street).

A mother of one of the students said:

If you have young children, this is a great time to for your family to experience the high school and listen to superb music. If your children, grandchildren or children from the neighborhood attend or attended RHS, this is a great way to support the school while enjoying a fantastic musical experience.

The concert will be conducted by Stilian Kirov and the pieces to be played are:
KODÁLY: Dances of Galánta
BOTTESINI: Concerto for Double Bass, No. 2, Mvmt. I
MENDELSSOHN: Symphony No. 5 in D major, p. 107, "Reformation"

This free concert, and two upcoming others at other locations, are presented as part of the Seattle Symphony’s Family, School and Community Programs, and provide an opportunity for student musicians to play with and learn from professional musicians. 

Roosevelt Highschool Symphony Orchestra To Perform With Seattle Symphony Tonight

The Roosevelt Symphony Orchestra will be performing a free, side-by- side concert with the Seattle Symphony tonight from 7:30-8:30pm at Roosevelt High School.

Roosevelt is the reference high school for Laurelhurst. And the concertmaster of the Roosevelt Symphony is a Laurelhurst resident, Andrea, RHS orchestra booster chairperson told us.

Roosevelt High School Orchestra members and Seattle Symphony musicians will perform together on the stage during Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7  in A major, Op. 92. 

Other pieces included in the performance will be Tchaikovsky: Allegro con spirit from Souvenir de Florence performed solely by the Roosevelt Orchestra, and Weber's Overture to Der Freischütz performed by the Seattle Symphony only.

The performance provides an opportunity for student musicians to play with and learn from professional musicians.
