Join Seattle Bicycle Advisory Board

The Seattle Bicycle Advisory Board is seeking additional members. Applications are due by July 4th to Serena.Lehman@seattle.gov.

The volunteer board advises the City on the concerns and needs of the bicycling community. It was created by the Seattle City Council in 1977 and plays an influential role in implementing Seattle’s Bicycle Master Plan. 

The board advises the Mayor and City Council, participates in planning and project development, evaluates policies and makes recommendations to all city departments including the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT).

Current members represent all types of bicyclists and skill levels, from casual weekend riders to year-round commuters. Board members serve a two-year term.

Give Your Input On Bicycle Master Plan

Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is seeking feedback on the Bicycle Master Plan Update:

Input on the following areas is being solicited:

• Citywide bicycle network map -are there streets missing a bike facility? Are there streets where a bike facility should be removed or relocated?
• Bicycle facility designation criteria-does it make sense?
• Proposed policy framework-do you have comments on the goals, or other recommended changes?
• Potential programs-which programs do you think will help us achieve the plan goals?

City Bike Advisory Board Looking For New Members

The Seattle Bicycle Board is looking for four new volunteers to help advise the Mayor and City Council on planning, project development, policy evaluation and recommendations, as well as make recommendations to the Seattle Department of Transportation.

The information says:

Individuals selected must have perspective, experience, and talents that will enhance the Board. Strong candidates will have a broad familiarity with many neighborhoods in the city, and interest in biking for recreation and/or transportation and a willingness to devote 8-10 hours a month to Board meetings and other Board duties.

Board members serve two-year terms and meet from 6-8pm on  the first Wednesday of each month at City Hall.

The deadline to apply is Friday by submitting a resume and cover letter to Doug Cox at douglas.cox@seattle.gov.
