Support Laurelhurst Elementary School

The Laurelhurst Elementary School's annual fundraising drive, Funding Futures, which supports the PTA’s operating budget, begins Friday and goes through October 29th, with a goal of raising $125,000.

The PTA sent this information to the Laurelhurst Blog:

Dear neighbor,
Think back to when you were looking for a home. Did the neighborhood public school play a factor in your decision? Maybe you chose Laurelhurst because of the schools, maybe your kids went to school here years ago, or maybe they attend private schools or optional public schools. In any case, research shows that investment in neighborhood public schools improves home values. As a community, we all share the responsibility of ensuring that our neighborhood public school, Laurelhurst Elementary, remains strong.

Over the years Laurelhurst Elementary has weathered challenges because of a steady stream of support from countless neighborhood families. Community support has helped achieve great things for our school and neighborhood! Support has provided essential programs the school district does not fund, including: a dedicated reading specialist, reading and math tutors, music and art, science and literacy enrichment, field trips, and much more.

To continue these efforts we are asking everyone in our community to contribute an amount they consider meaningful to benefit Funding Futures.

Many don’t realize how much our school demographics have evolved. Nearly 30% of our student population is now in need of free and reduced lunch, including a number from homeless families. We are relying on a smaller subset of families to fill the gap.
We deeply appreciate your dedication to the neighborhood we all have chosen and to the children of Laurelhurst Elementary.
