SR 520 Closed This Week-end

Heads Up: Full closure of SR 520 planned for March 6-7 weekend

Travelers should plan ahead for trips across Lake Washington this weekend. Beginning Friday night, March 5, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close State Route 520 to finish placing girders over the freeway.

SR 520 closing across Lake Washington Friday night to Monday morning

Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, March 5, and continuing until 5 a.m. Monday, March 8, crews will close both directions of SR 520 between Montlake Boulevard in Seattle and 92nd Avenue Northeast in Clyde Hill. This will allow crews to install the final 30 concrete beams, or girders, to support a lid over the highway in Montlake. We appreciate your patience as we finish this series of highway closures.

Closure details

For westbound traffic:

• Westbound traffic on SR 520 must exit at 92nd Avenue Northeast.
• The on-ramp to westbound SR 520 at 84th Avenue Northeast will be closed.
• The HOV on-ramp to westbound SR 520 at 108th Avenue Northeast will be closed.
• The on-ramp to westbound SR 520 from Montlake Boulevard will remain open.

For eastbound traffic:

• The on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 from Montlake Boulevard will be closed.
• The on-ramp to eastbound SR 520 from Lake Washington Boulevard East will be closed.
• Eastbound traffic on SR 520 from I-5 must exit at Montlake Boulevard.

The bicycle and pedestrian path along the north side of SR 520 will be open across Lake Washington.

Plan ahead for upcoming construction in Montlake

Here are highlights of Montlake Project construction you can expect in the weeks to come:

• Feb. 22 – July 2: Closure of East North Street at Montlake Boulevard
• March 5-8: Full closure of SR 520 across Lake Washington
• March 1-13: Weeknight closures of the Montlake Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound SR 520
• Jan. 11 – March 11: Periodic 1-hour closures of the East Lake Washington Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound SR 520
• March 1 – July 2: Closure of the alley on the south side of East Hamlin Street
• March 8-11: Closure of Foster Point Trail under SR 520
