Neighborhood Student Doing Food Drive

The Laurelhurst Blog received this information from a neighbor:

I would like to share with the community that my 17 year old son, Anders, has been organizing weekly food drives in the neighborhood to support the University District Food Bank during the pandemic.
Anders has been alarmed by news reports that donations to food banks are down by 75% and up to 2 million Washington residents may need food assistance.
My son is distributing fliers requesting donations on Thursdays and Fridays, then picking up the donations (which can include food, toiletries and other donations) from neighbors’ front porches.
Anders has received car fulls of food donations and also has collected over $1500 in checks.  He is committed to continuing this project through the quarantine period, and has been helping friends set up similar food drives in their neighborhoods.
Thanks for your help supporting this project. We are so fortunate to live in such a kind and generous community.

If you haven't received a flier dropped off at your porch, donations can be dropped off directly on Ander's porch at 3837 48th Avenue NE.

For questions and to set up a pick up, contact Anders at anders@pohlmann.net.
