On Sunday morning, "Cherry Blossom Run, " a fundraiser for the Center for Urban Horticulture, takes place.
The 5k run starts at the Center for Urban Horticulture for the first half mile, and finishes at Red Square next to the Quad where the well-known cherry blossoms are in bloom.
The website says:
Come run or walk to the blooming cherry blossoms at the UW Quad. Your senses will delight on this course! Throughout the run you might encounter the works of beavers and nesting hummingbirds. You’ll pass the newly renovated Husky Stadium, the new UW Light Rail station and cross over the new Montlake Blvd Pedestrian Overpass. Turn right onto E Stevens Way NE and ascend through historic gothic-style architecture. Turn left into the main entrance on Memorial Way NE and finish downhill into Red Square. Then walk into the Quad.
The Union Bay Natural area is where you can see herons, beavers, hummingbirds, turtles, peregrines, ducks, eagles, and hundreds more bird species. Experience breathtaking scenery and wildlife. Our community is a better place with protected urban nature reserves.
