The Laurelhurst Blog received this information:
I am writing to report mail theft in the neighborhood between 9pm last night and 6:30 this morning. We live on the 3100 block of West Laurelhurst Drive.
We discovered our mail scattered all over the road this morning while walking our dog. Each envelope was cut open and the contents spread over the road.
A Blog reader sent us this email about a recent package theft at her home on the 3600 block of NE 41st Street:
I just wanted to alert neighbors that on Friday, August 9th, I left a letter in my mailbox for the mailman to pick up at our home. Over the weekend a neighbor discovered the envelope in his yard with the contents removed. Fortunately it was just a personal letter - no $$ or identifying information enclosed.
I also was expecting a UPS delivery on Friday that was gone by the time I returned home a couple hours after its delivery time. So the same person must have taken that as well.
Just a reminder to put all outgoing mail in USPS mailboxes and take caution in having packages left on porches.
