Work On Hospital's Ocean Parking Lot Underway Daily For Next 8 Weeks

Resurfacing on the Ocean 8 parking lot at Children’s hospital is underway for the next eight week, weather permitting, as noted in the Hospital Construction Blog.

Work will occur seven days a week: Monday through Saturday from 8am to 4:30 pm and on the week-end from 9am to 4:30pm. This and next week the hours will be 8am to 6pm.

The Construction Blog says:

There will be intermittent noise from compressors, and from equipment used to remove metal structures and the existing top coating of the surface lot; there may be some odor during application of the new top coating and parking lot striping as well. Contractors will do everything possible to mitigate odors or noise.

The Construction Project Manager, for the project, Chris, told the Blog Staff that the noise should not impact surrounding neighbors.  T

He said that he noise may be .heard at the corner of 45th Avenue NE and NE 45th Street from the removal of the top coating, saw cutting the metal structure at the southern parking stalls, power washing, and mobile generators to run the equipment.  Due to the vegetation buffer the noise isn't expected to travel.

Contractors have specified a low odor top coating and fans will be used to help dissipate any lingering odors.

Chris added that the Hospital has closed off the entire project area and diverted operations at Ocean 8 entrance to allow the contractor to perform the work in the most efficient manner, therefore reducing the timeframe of the project.

Several neighbors have contacted the Blog Staff to report loud noises from the project that live beyond 45th Avenue NE and NE 45th Street.
