Petite Boutique Kids, formally Kookaburra Kids, (3432 NE 45th Street), located on the Bryant business side of NE 45th Street, is having a re-opening event on May 20th from 1-5pm, due to a recent change in ownership,.

The new owner, Tammy, told the Laurelhurst Blog Staff:

Rhea, the previous owner, who owned the store for 4 years, started getting into real estate and it was taking more of her time than expected. It was also becoming more profitable for her.
I met Rhea through mutual friends and had just sold a rental house in Port Angeles so investing in something that was along the lines of what we enjoy, sounded great.
The store will be open all year, as before Rhea  closed the store for almost 3 months of the year in 2016,  which led to a drop-off in numbers.
Rhea would often change the hours so it was hard for people to trust she would be open when they arrived.
We see a lot of value in staying open everyday until we become successful. As long as we stay profitable we will stay in business. Hopefully many years.
The business model is similar. We carry designer brand names at an affordable cost. We have some new displays, we will be buying more often from the customers, our company identity has changed (Petite Boutique Kids).  We are also both designers so we make custom clothes/furniture/jewelry that we intend on working into the shop.
The store is buying  consignment items seven days a week at this time. And we carry children's clothing up to size 12.

Here is a letter from the new owner:

Hello Families!

I would to announce that we have taken over Kookaburra Kids and there are some fun new changes.

I have gotten some NEW items, clothes and accessories, including the amazingly fun Sock-It-To-Me socks for girls and boys.  I have had the talented Burgandy Viscosi paint 2 original murals here in the shop and we will be featuring one-of-a-kind art hung on the walls in the shop for sale, made by local artists, and geared toward children's taste.

Also, as a seamstress, I have allotted a corner of the shop where I plan on bringing in my sewing machine. The plan is to take those really cute pieces that come in that may not be as perfect as we like them, and change them into something new and exciting.

Some things that will be staying the same 0 we will only be taking like-new clothing, accessories, and toys of the labels and brands that you've come to expect to see here in the shop.

Hours:  Tues-Wed 11-6pm, Thurs-Fri 11-5 and Sat-Mon 11-4pm. 7 days a week.
