February 2016 saw an increase in new listings over last February
from 2 to 9. A healthy sign of things to come and, of course a continued
indication that Laurelhurst sells, and sells quickly as seen by number of days
on market.
I am often asked by clients and friends, especially in a brisk
market, if it is "really that important" to repaint, reduce personal
effects or stage a house if it is vacant. The answer is, absolutely!
Remember, a potential buyer wants to look at a clean, crisp home with the
majority of personal items removed. They want to envision their family in the
house not yours.
It is of course more challenging if you are living in your
home while it is listed, but family photos should not be part of your staging.
Replace them with artwork or just paint the walls and leave them blank, that
way a prospective buyer will focus on the house.
