Registration is underway for a wide variety of Fall youth classes and programs offered at the Laurelhurst Community Center.

Register online, in-person at the Community Center Monday through Friday 9-2pm or by calling 684-7529.

Here are the youth classes and programs offered at the Laurelhurst Community Center:

YOUTH POTTERY
Ages 6-12
Students will experience different hand-building techniques in this course. Each week the instructor will guide students through a different project using coil, slab, or pinch pot techniques. Kids will also learn how to use the pottery wheel, make tableware, as well as some surface decoration techniques.

FAMILY HOLIDAY POTTERY WORKSHOP
Ages 5-12
Time to get into the holiday spirit! You and your child will have the opportunity to create customized and unique gifts for friends, family, teachers, or whomever! The instructor will show some different holiday projects in class, but you are welcome to bring your own ideas to work with too! Children must have an adult with them to participate.

HOME SCHOOL ART
Ages 6-12
Students will work on a different project each week.  Projects include 3D sculptures, wire sculptures,
shadow puppets, hand puppets, paper making, and lanterns! The instructor is a professional sculptor and artist, with more than 15 years of teaching experience.

ONE ON ONE BASKETBALL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Ages 6-15
The Player Development Program (PDP) is a focused basketball training program that develops confidence in players who are determined to get better. Whether you are a 6 year-old just getting into basketball or you are a 16 year-old aiming to be a starter on your varsity team, you will learn proper technique and individual game strategy. Our PDP classes are small in size to ensure individual attention and intense focus. NERF SOCCER
Ages 5-6
Laurelhurst indoor Nerf Soccer is a community tradition! Registration packets are available at the Center and registration must be done in-person. Practices will be on week nights, once a week for an hour. Games will be on Friday evenings. Maximum of 10 players per team.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE
Age Groups: 10-11, 12-13, & 14-17*
Girls will learn teamwork, sportsmanship and volleyball fundamentals leading into more advanced skills. Players may sign up at their local community center. Practices will occur at their home site while games will take place at at various centrally located community centers. League play begins in mid-September and ends in mid-November.
Fee: $30
Minimum: 6 girls per team

YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL LEAGUE (COED)
Age Groups: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-14
Players learn basic skills, team play, and sportsmanship in this citywide league. Players may sign up at their community center and are placed on teams. Games are played in accordance with NFL flag football rules and field dimensions. League play begins the last week in September and concludes in mid-November. Teams practice at their local community center.
Fee: $30
Minimum: 5 players per team

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Boys age groups: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14-15, 16-17
Girls age groups: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14-17
Cubs Boys:8-9 years
Cubs Girls: 8-9 years

PIANO LESSONS
Ages 5-12
Private piano lessons are 30 minutes long and offered to ages 5-12. However, students who are already established with the instructor may continue beyond age 12. Lessons are taught with
child-friendly methods that explore compositional development and theoretical analogies along with basic techniques and exercises. The instructor, Ms. Bedwell, holds a Master’s in Music Composition and has taught piano for more than 12 years. Please call or stop by the Laurelhurst Community Center to register for a specific half-hour time slot.
