home near Beach Club for sale
Two unique mid-century modern homes are currently on the market.
The first is a 5-BR/2.25-bath home built in 1957 for just under $1.7 million located near the Beach Club on 51st Avenue NE.
The 3,630 square foot home, was designed by John Stewart Detlie, an art director/set designer on 30's and 40's movies such as A Christmas Carol, Another Thin Man and Test Pilot, who won an Academy Award for his work on the film Bitter Sweet. He died in in 2005.
Seattle Curbed said:
Detlie was also a decorated architect with a degree from the University of Pennsylvania and many works to his name in Seattle and elsewhere.
You get beautiful lake views whether you're inside the clean, open spaces behind giant windows or just outside them on outdoor decks and patios. The backyard slopes just slightly from the home towards the water, providing the Hollywood view and setting you'd expect to get.
The other home is another mid-century modern, priced at $1 million, with 3,480 square feet and just 2 bedroom and 2.75 baths, located. on NE 55th Street The home was remodeled by George Suyama, a local architect, specializing in northwest contemporary design.
Kim Dales, a Windermere agent specializing in Laurelhurst properties, told us that both homes are "extremely unique" adding:
The home on 51st Avenue NE has an open upstairs floor plan, and very nice southern views of Lake Washington and Mt. Rainier. It is just a few homes north of the Beach Club.
The other home on NE 55th Street truly feels like a retreat. It is situated on a large private lot surrounded by beautiful plantings, a private deck and Zen like patio.
