Union Bay Birding Photos on Display At Miller Library

Eva in Flight - November 25, 2013

Larry Hubbell, best known for his blog, Union Bay Watch, documenting the two eaglets on SR520, is doing his first solo exhibition: “Birds Watching," at the Miller Library at the Center for Urban Horticulture ( 3501 N.E. 41st Street) through tomorrow.

Larry, an author, photographer and sculptor, wrote a story in 2012, Life After Eddie, about the death of Eddie the Eagle, who lived on Union Bay, and the ensuing ealgets that were born.

The information says:

The goal of Larry’s art is to inspire harmony between humanity and nature. His current work is focused on enabling the citizens of Seattle to know and appreciate their natural neighbors. The beauty and the struggles of our local birds -- eagles, woodpeckers, herons and owls -- show how closely our lives are intertwined with theirs. The air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink are inseparable from the fate of the natural world. Larry believes, “Knowing and sustaining nature in our neighborhood is the first step toward ensuring the future of humanity”.

The artwork features the eagles Eva and Albert, the woodpecker Elvis, the heron, Dragon Master and many others works of art from Union Bay.
