Free Preview Of Seattle Opera's "The Consul" Tonight At Northeast Library

Seattle Opera Preview Lecture: 'The Consul'

The Northeast Branch of the Seattle Public Library (6801 35th Avenue NE) is holding a free preview lecture tonight from 6-8pm, of Seattle Opera's upcoming production of Menotti's "The Consul."

The information says:
Join us for a preview lecture of Gian-Carlo Menotti's Pulitzer Prize-winning American work.
The story concerns Magda, a devoted wife and mother who clashes with the bureaucracy of a nameless police state while trying to obtain an exit visa for her persecuted family.

Menotti’s nail-biting narrative will surprise you with several magical touches, and the opera is buoyed by a melodic score in which love, hope and redemption all play a part.
