Friends of Yesler Swamp is having a free "Gumbo Feed and Book Read" with Connie Sidles on Saturday from 6-8pm.
The free benefit dinner will be at a home near Yesler Swamp, on Saturday from 6-8pm, at 3904 NE Belvoir Place.

UW Professor of Restoration Ecology Kern Ewing will make his world-famous Texas gumbo, garnished with potato salad (Kern swears this is the real way to eat gumbo), washed down with fine wine.
Afterwards, Connie Sidles will read from her newest book about Yesler Swamp and the Montlake Fill: FILL OF JOY!
“This is a happy book,” says Connie, “about how to find joy in nature and in each other.”
Books will be on sale and available for Connie to sign. Proceeds from the book sale will benefit Friends of Yesler Swamp’s boardwalk and bird blind.

The Friends of Yesler Swamp, located in Laurelhurst, is bordered by NE 41st St. and Surber Drive, and is maintained by a group of volounteers.has been publishing many interesting new posts on the history of Yesler Swamp, including historic photos, videos, source notes and more.
Connie Sidles is a local birding expert who maintains a blog documenting the many types of birds, including beautiful pictures, at the nearby Union Bay Natural Area, also known as the Montlake Fill.
