The Laurelhurst Community Center is offering a Tai Chi Class for ages 16 and older on Wednesdays from 7-8pm.

The class description says;

Beginning Yang style short form.  Come and learn this “internal” Chinese martial art which promotes health by reducing bodily tension and stress, improves balance and coordination, increases joint flexibility and calms the mind.
“Research from the Harvard Medical School has found that Tai Chi practice leads to more vigor, flexibility, better balance and mobility and a sense of well being.  Further research now lends support to long standing claims that Tai Chi favorably impacts the health of the heart, bones, nerves and muscles, immune system, and the mind.

The instructor Mark D. Johnson began his study of Tai Chi Chuan at UC Santa Cruz in 1976, went on to study and practice Chinese Medicine, and continued his Tai Chi  studies with Saul Krotki in Seattle.  He has taught Tai Chi Yang style Short Form at Meadowbrook Community Center since 2010.
Classes start with learning short easy to practice movements and then progress into learning the Yang short form.   Come and move in the Tai Chi way,  put a spring in your step!

To register call the Laurelhurst Community Center at 684-7529 or go in person. The fee is $75 for each session: #104990 9/18-10/30  and #104991 11/6-12/18 $75/
