Green Seattle Day is happening on Saturday from 10am-2pm .
This is a coordinated restoration event going on in 17 parks through the city with Seward Park as the main site.
Two of the nearby parks that need the most volunteers are Magnuson Park and the Burke Gillman Trail.
Volunteers will kick off the planting season by planting native trees, shrubs and groundcover and removing invasive species.
The information says:
Help spread the word and increase the positive effect on our urban parks and greenspaces by inviting your friends and family to volunteer with you.
Without a coordinated volunteer effort, Seattle is at risk of losing 70% of its forests in just 20 years. You can help us reverse this trend by volunteering and joining hundreds of your neighbors to help Green Seattle Partnership reach its going of restoring 2500 acres in 20 years.
