Construction Activities This Week At Children's Hospital

Here are the at Children's Hospital Construction activities happening this week:
  • Crews will continue pouring concrete floor slabs on metal deck well into December 2011. YConcrete trucks will be onsite.
  • Structural steel installation continues. During this time trucks will deliver structural steel, metal decking and steel stairs to the site.  There will be more sharp bang and clang type noises as beams are bolted and decking dropped in place.
  • Harmless smoke from the welding operation will be visible throughout the installation of structural steel.
  • The crane will be devoted exclusively to erecting the steel structure from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 7 to 8 a.m. the crane will position the non-steel materials and equipment needed for that day.
  • Crews will also be working on all levels of the Whale Garage to complete badly needed refurbishment tasks including painting and resurfacing the garage deck .  Some of the other work will involve sandblasting and will produce noise that will be monitored.  To minimize impact to neighbors and hospital building occupants, Sellen has constructed a noise barrier around the work area.
