Locally Written "Don Giovanni" Starts Friday at Magnuson's Seattle Musical Theater

Seattle Musical Theatre is premiering for the first time in their 33 year history, an original work, Don Giovanni: A New Musical, with an entirely local group of performers. The production starts on Friday and runs until January 23rd.

Carine tells us that it "is a completely re-envisioned musical theatre version of Mozart and Lorenzo Da Ponte’s opera by the same name."

It is written by 22 year old Seattle native and former Cornish student, Jesse Smith, and features a new score that mixes modern musical theatre music with theatrical and operatic influences. Jesse has already written and composed three other musicals.

The website says "Jesse Smith transports this well-known story to the era of the 1920s in Spain. Its rich characters and the power of the musical are sure to captivate Seattle’s audience with this ever compelling tale of murder, passion and
human relationships."

Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Seattle Musical Theatre is located in Magnuson Park with plenty of free parking.

For tickets you can call the box office at 206-363-2809 or go to the SCT website.  Tickets are $25-$30 and students and seniors are $20 - $25.
