January 9th Deadline For Free Christmas Tree Curbside Recycling

If you subscribe to Seattle Public Utilities curbside yard and food waste pick-up you can recycle your Christmas tree for free until January 9th.

Just put your trees and greens out on  your regular collection day.  Trees should be cut into sections of six feet long or shorter, with branches trimmed to less than four feet to fit into the collection trucks. And the sections should be bundled with string or twine.

Trees that are flocked and/or have tinsel or ornaments will be collected as extra garbage. These trees need to be cut into three-foot pieces and each piece will be charged $8.10  (as extra garbage). Plastic trees need to be put in the garbage, as they are  not recyclable.

Trees and greens can also be dropped off for free at Seattle Public Utilities’ North and South Recycling and Disposal stations from 8-5:30pm.
