Community Center Holiday Art Sale and Winter Festival A Great Success

This past Friday and Saturday was the the Laurelhurst Holiday Art Sale and Winter Festival.

Dena, Community Center Recreation Coordinator, told us it was a great opportunity for neighbors to shop locally while supporting the arts.

Twenty-three artists sold items including ceramics, fiber arts, sterling silver jewelry, turned wood, watercolor prints, holiday cards, ornaments, fused glass jewelry, custom dog and cat tags, weavings, handmade soaps and many more.

Dena said that the silent auction earned $350 in donations and will help to fund our pottery class for youth and teens with disabilities. Auction items were donated from each artist participating in the sale.

Kids enjoyed the variety of holiday crafts available to do on the lower level, including making reindeer from large candy canes, making ornaments from pipe cleaners and beads and others.

And Santa was a big hit taking pictures and handing out candy canes. And there was always quite a gathering around the complimentary cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider.

There was a great variety of musical entertainment throught out the two days, including some Hawaiian inpsired holiday music to warm up the day.

"The festivities were a great beginning to the holiday season," Dena added.
