Tonight at 7:30pm, a special crime prevention meeting will be held at the Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center (6535 Ravenna Avenue NE) with North Precinct Crime Prevention Coordinator Diane Horswill.
Rebcca, from the Ravenna Blog, who set up the meeting along with Patty from Roosiehood, said that anyone in the Northeast Seattle area is welcome to attend.and there should be some helpful tips about crime prevention.
The meeting is being held due to the recent increase in burglaries in the Ravenna area. The Ravenna Blog recently reported that in October there were 12 burglaries which is "somewhat higher than is average for the neighborhood especially since many areas are experiencing lower than average rates right now."
Cary Lassen, Laurelhurst Community Club Crime Prevention Co-Chair, said her last report from Diane Horswill indicated that were that there were no burglaries in Laurelhurst or View Ridge in October. She added that there have been "some significant arrests related to many of the North area burglaries.
Cary added that car prowls are still an issue in the neighborhood with one recent report receivd by LCC Crime Prevention. She said that car prowls are hard to tally as not all car prowls andstolen vehicles are reported to LCC nor are reports filed on the Seattle Polic online site by community members.
Cary encourages everyone to file a police report with the Seattle Police Department, which can be done for crimes when there is no known suspect or it is a non-emergency.
If you'd like to attend the meeting tonight, you can RSVP here.
