Fun "Swamp N Chip"s Event at Yesler Swamp on Sunday

Friends of Yesler Swamp is having a “Swamp N’ Chips” event at the swamp this Sunday.
The invite says:

Here’s a chance for kids to learn about our very own local wild critters and native plants and help preserve a natural area at the same time!

We’re offering a free, guided nature walk in Yesler Swamp for kids aged 3 and up on Sunday, Nov. 14, from 1-2 p.m. and 2-3 p.m.

We’ll meet in the east parking of the Center for Urban Horticulture, 3501 NE 41st Street, Seattle. Yesler Swamp is just east of the parking lot.

The kids will be able to add handfuls of fresh wood chips to the Yesler Swamp trail from wagons and baskets strategically placed along the way.

As they walk the path, the kids will be playing a real “hands on” role in preserving this unique natural area in the heart of Seattle!

Swampy the Bear, the official Yesler Swamp mascot and a favorite with kids at all our swamp activities, will be on hand for photos and to welcome the budding young naturalists. All children who help chip the trail will receive a Swampy the Bear sticker.

Bird and wildlife experts will be on hand to teach about wildlife identification.

"Should be fun, especially the strewing chips part!" Jean, with Friends of Yesler Swamp, told us.
