Help Fund Permanent Memorial to Fallen Officer Brenton

A reader who attended a North Seattle Police Precinct Meeting last month sent us this information to pass along to readers.

The Leschi Community Council is currently raising funds to pay for a $25,000 memorial to fallen officer Tim Brenton, a 9 year Seattle Police Department veteran, who was murdered as he sat in his patrol car at 29th & Yesler a year ago October 31st.

Neighbors around the scene of the shooting have been working together since that day time to design a permanent memorial to Brenton. They have been working with artist Judy Blanco on a memorial that will fit into the strip of land between the sidewalk and 29th Avenue, just north of the intersection at Yesler where the shooting occured.

"The permanent memorial includes a stone shield with Brenton's badge number, a black sash through that noting his death, the words of Brenton's family engraved in stones around the shield, and a tree and other plants that symbolize the ongoing lives of Officer Brenton's loved ones" according to Central District News.

Comunity donations are needed to fund the memorial.

And The Leschi Community Council is trying to reach the goal of $25,000 by October 1st to be able to complete the memorial by the time of the 1-year anniversary of Officer Brenton's death on October 31st.

Tax-deductible contributions can be sent through PayPal to LeschiCC@gmail.com.
