Friends of The Seattle Public Library At Farmer's Market on Saturday

Friends of the Seattle Public Library, will be visiting Farmers Markets throughout the city to let people know about budget issues and how to help in supporting the Seattle Public Library.

This Saturday from 9-2 the group will be at the University District Farmers Market selling their unique green bags which are great for shopping while at the market.

They will be back at the University District Farmers Market again on September 18th and October 9th.

The Friends of the Library played an instrumental role in keeping the hours of operation unchanged at the NE Library Branch and other Seattle libraries, after their proposal to City Council was accepted in November of last year despite the Citywide budget crunch.

"The Friends support library programs, raise funds for special purposes, volunteer to do projects, promote community awareness of libraries, advocate for robust city funding of The Library, and support the freedom of individuals to read what they wish," their website says.
