Riders For Annual STP Leaves Husky Stadium Tomorrow Morning

If you're an early riser tomorrow morning, you may see more traffic as the STP (Seattle To Portland) bicycle riders leave in 10 minute waves starting at 4:45am until about 7:30am from the E1 parking lot at Husky Stadium.

This is 31st year for the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle Ride which is the largest multi-day ride in the Northwest. Up to 10,000 riders will make the 200-mile trek.

Registartions for the ride was already sold out by mid-April. The STP is the primary fundraiser for the Cascade Bicycle Club, and a major fundraiser for many other community and church groups throughout the Seattle and Portland areas.

The ride which can take up to 2 days to complete, including an overnight stop, is a recreational ride and is not a race.

"The route, carefully marked with directional arrows [Dan Henrys], leads riders through the scenic valleys, forests and farmlands of western Washington and Oregon," the website says.

The oldest rider last year was 87 years old and the youngest was just over 2 years old.

Here is a post we did last year with some more interesting stats from that race.

Good luck to all the riders!
