Upcoming Classes at Children's Hospital


Here are some interesting classes coming up at Seattle Children's Hospital.

Thursday, June 24, 6-9pm
Infant and Child CPR

This CPR class is for parents, child-care providers and healthcare professionals. Topics include risk factors, healthy heart living, infant and child CPR and choking rescue techniques.

The course is taught by registered nurses or medics, and is co-sponsored by Great Starts Birth and Family Education. Attendees receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support certificate that is valid for two years.

Car Seat Check

Come learn how to safely secure your child in the car. Child passenger safety experts will check your child in a car seat or booster seat, check your car's seat belts, and answer any questions you may have. See the flyer for more information.

Better Babysitters

Youths 11 to 13 years of age learn responsible babysitting by studying basic child development, infant and child care, safety, how to handle emergencies, age-appropriate toys, business hints and what parents expect.

Students receive take-home information and a coupon for $5 off Seattle Children’s CPR for Babysitters class. You can also receive the discount on CPR for Babysitters if you have registered for, but not yet taken, Better Babysitters. Remember to click the "Multiple Program Discount" box when registering.

For Boys Only: The Joys and Challenges of Growing Up

This two-part class is recommended for boys ages 10 to 12 years old and a parent or guardian. The sessions focus on what both the child and parent should expect as boys begin adolescence. The class is two hours in length on two separate days.

Topics include body changes during puberty, popular myths about growing up, behavior and attitude changes, what boys need to know about girls and how to communicate about the experience of adolescence.
