Neighbor Giving Away Free Shrubs, Trees, Grass and Plants Before Major Landcscaping Changes Start

One of our readers, Katie, sent us this email inviting neighbors to help themselves to plants in her backyard as she is making major landschaping changes.

"I really want the plants to go to 'good homes' instead of ending up at the dump!" Katie tells us.

"Dear Laurelhurst Neighbors,

Some serious landscape changes are in store for our backyard in the next month (we are having a sport court put in that will go from fence to fence and retaining wall to retaining wall) and we'd like to 'recycle' as much of the existing plants and grass as possible.

Some of the shrubs and trees have been in the backyard for more than 20 years and it would be a shame for them to simply get tossed at the dump.

Check out the link to our backyard on Picasa and see what there is to take (please keep in mind that we gave up on the weeding when we decided to go ahead with our project, but there are a few treasures hidden among the weeds---anyone interested in a beautiful lilac tree?).

Everything is yours for the taking--you bring the shovels, tools and manpower and it's all yours!! Feel free to have your landscapers/garden crews come by to do the dirty work.

Stop by anytime between now and June 12th--you can dig even if we aren't home, just go around to the backyard and dig away!

Our address is 4411 55th Ave NE.
