45th Street Viaduct Construction Starting Soon
Pre-construction on the NE 45th Street Viaduct is slated to start in April and the viaduct will be completely closed late June through mid-September.
Construction hours will be 7am to 11pm seven days a week with some nightime work (past 11pm) being done periodically. The website says nearby neighbors should expect to be affected by the noise, and it remains unknows if the noise will bounce back to this area.
"The NE 45th Street Viaduct’s existing west approach is nearing the end of its structural life and needs to be replaced to maintain a safe and efficient travel corridor for vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles. The viaduct was originally constructed in 1938 and portions of the existing structure are nearly 70 years old," the SDOT website says.
In anticipation of this project, Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will be visiting various locations in the area to share information about the project's final design, preliminary construction schedule, and detours during the viaduct closure.
SDOT will be at the UW HUB tomorrow from 11am to 1pm.
