Junk Trunk at 45th and Sandpoint Intersection

Does anyone know what is up with the 1-800 Got Junk Truck parked for almost a week now next to the Bike Shop and directly across the street from Marlai Restaurant?

It's parked on grass, where the Christmas Tree Lot was a few months ago.

A reader said he called 1800Junk a few days ago and they said they would move it...but they haven't. The reader asked the employee why a truck would be parked there and he said "probably so people will see it."

Every day seems there is more junk left outside the truck - an old chair, a few bicycles, and more. Nothing ever seems to get put into the truck.

So here is what another reader found out and asked us to pass along:

The Land Use Code, within the NC2 zone, has restrictions on the location of parking, however it would be based on the code that was in place at the time the structure and accessory parking lot was approved.

If the truck you mention is not located within the approved parking lot, then it could be considered a violation of the land use code.

You would want to lodge a complaint so a Housing and Zoning Inspector would be able to research the issue and contact the land owner if in fact a violation of the land use code did exist.

Two ways to file a complaint:
1) Go here and then cursor down to “compliance” on the right bottom of the page and there are instructions; or
2) Go here to fill out the form directly

The truck in not in an approved and paved parking lot and is not in the rightaway.

People should note the address: Seattle Bicycle Center at 4529 Sand Point Wy NE

Thanks to our readers for the info.

We called the ownner of the Bike Shop today and asked if he approved the Truck to be there and he said yes. We asked why and he said "because he needs the business." We asked how long he allowed it to be there and the bike owner said "as long as they want." We also asked why he would do it in our neighborhood and he didn't answer. He did say he "can't lift the chair that is there now!" Please everyone file complaints asap. He can park the truck in front of his house!

And how much is the Bike Shop being paid to have that truck on their property? No wonder he agrees to having it there "indefinitely."

If the truck is moved to the bike shop parking lot, it has to be moved every 24 hours I believe. It is an eyesore just like the bike shop. It was never repaired after the fire there a few years ago. Still black soot, broken windows.
