Cary sent us this update from her recent sock drive. See the post we did regarding this.
"Hi Laurelhurst Blogger.
The Sock drive was a success! I delivered 416 items last night to the North Precinct. We did not beat the University District Chamber of Commerce. They came in with a whopping 1261 pairs of socks and 88 pairs of gloves.
Sure, I was impressed but they didn't have beautiful hand-knitted hats that made Sergeant Diane Newsom happy.
See the picture above with Sergeant Dianne Newsom with two hand-knitted hats.
Sergeant Newsom will be delivering the hats to the Domestic Violence shelter.
Thanks to everyone who dropped off socks, hats, gloves and scarves. Someone even included a package of hand warmers.
A special thanks to the members of the Seattle Community Church who donated over 100 pairs of socks.
Thank you too, Myrna Torrie and her knitting group for their fabulous donations.
We have a generous neighborhood."
