Neighborhood Challenge: Donate 500 Socks by 12/2

Cary Lassen, a Laurelhurst resident living by the school, and also Crime Prevention Representative, is taking up a wonderful cause the next few weeks.

She writes us:

"Every Holiday Season the North Seattle Police Precinct asks the neighborhoods to donate new socks, hats and gloves. The SPD then distributes these gifts to shelters and the homeless they encounter living on the streets.

Giving someone a pair of new, warm, dry socks is a simple, caring gesture that the Police say is greatly appreciated.

The University District Council has pledged 500 pair of socks. I want Laurelhurst to beat that number!

Please, donate a new pair of warm socks, hats or gloves in any size for men, women and children by December 2.

You can drop off your items to "THE SOX BOX" located on the porch at 4557 46th Ave NE (corner house with white picket fence across from Laurelhurst Elementary School) or contact carypillo@mac.com or call 524-1928 and your donation will be picked up.

We have one month to gather 500 donations."

Laurelhurst, are you ready for the challenge? Let's do it!
