More than $5k Raised For North Playground at Annual Golf Tournament

Great news. The third annual Laurelhurst Golf Tournament held at Sandpoint Country Club last month raised more than $5,000 that will go towards future renovations for the North Playground. Check out the story we did before the event.

David Watson, who helped put on the event, sent us a recap which not only was a blast for partipants but was a successful fundraiser.

David says "There were 72 paid golfers, nearly 20 awesome volunteers and another 10-12 dinner guests after golf. We had sitters available so many spouses joined their significant other after golf....while others came just to have fun at dinner, the auction and raffle.

Over 1/3 of the golfers won a prize - whether by winning the marshmallow long drive contest, hitting their shot the closest to the pin, striking the best putt in the putting contest or just by winning one of the many raffle prizes.

Over $1,700 was raised via the many auction items like the golf lessons, golf clubs or to play rounds of golf at Sand Point or Seattle Country Club.

We had eleven great company sponsors - Metropolitan Market, Beacon Law, The Laurel Group, McCallum Print Group, Holman Cahill Garrett Ives Oliver & Anderson PLLC, NW Retail Partners, ProRobics, Raymark Plumbing, Varlamos, Zeeks and The Andover Company. And there were other sponsors as well.

We gave away another $1,700 worth of gifts in the form of gift cards and prizes from local restaurants."

David tells us, "There were several fun stories but it was a bit like Vegas - what happens at the Golf Tournament, stays at the Golf Tournament. Seriously, many folks had a great time but no one crashed a cart into Lake Washington. Though I've heard from several folks that squirrels and other golfers were frequently ducking to avoid golf balls most of the day."

Check out the pictures David sent of us of his foursome and the sponsor signs at the course.

Thanks for all the hard work you did in the long process of helping to renovate the playground for not only school kids, but neighborhood kids.

"A renovated playground born out of a shared community vision is a much needed community resource that will draw families and children of all ages," says the playground website.
