NE Seattle Mom Involved in International Day of Climate Change on Saturday

October 24th is International Day of Climate Change. This event takes place worldwide and is the "most widespread day of environmental action in the planet’s history" according to the 350.org website.

"There will be big rallies in big cities, and incredible creative actions across the globe. Join people all over the worldto take a stand for a safe climate future," the 350org website says.

Curious about the number 350 for this project? "350 is the most important number in the world—it's what scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere."

In Seattle there are several events listed here and the largest one taking place at the Seattle Center where at 3pm everyone gathered will spell out 3-5-0.

In NE Seattle Rebecca, a mom, is holding her own event for the cause.

She writes "I need your help! As part of this, I'll be compiling a collage of 350 photos of toys from Seattle kids to send to our Senators. This represents our kids and our concern for their future.
Can you contribute your photos of one of your kids favorite toys to help raise awareness of safe limits for carbon dioxide and global warming? Please send photos and your child's first name to 350toys@gmail.com.

Since global warming is such a huge issue that will affect all of our children, I really feel like I owe it to my kids to do something to help raise awareness.Instead of heading out into Seattle, I'm hoping to compile 350 photos of toys owned by children in our area. 350 toys represents 350 kids napping, playing, studying, etc., whose future we need to protect.

I'll make them into a big photo collage and send a copy to each of our senators, along with a letter asking them to help fight climate change. Can you help? Ill post photos of the collage on my blog site when it's done. You can also check out the 350 Toys for a Healthy Planet event. Thanks so much for your help!"
