Dedication of Magnuson Wetlands and Ballfield‏ This Saturday

Join Mayor Nickels and others for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Magnuson park to celebrate the completion of one of the largest Pro Parks Levy development projects: the 43 acre wetland, Habitat and Athletic Field Development.

The event is this Saturday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. People are urged to enter the park off of Sand Point Way on NE 65th Street.

"Come join in the fun, take a tour of the wetlands and learn how the living ecosystem will grow and evolve, see the new Frank Papasedero Field, celebrate National Public Land Day and at 11 a.m. attend a bird friendly gardening class," says the invite we received. There will also be a scavenger hunt.

The dedication of the Frank Papasedero Field will be in the Mickey Merriam Athletic Field Complex.

Check out how the "complex and field are woven together with paths and places for walking, running, bird watching and more - providing many choices for recreation and environmental fun.

"One of the Levy’s final projects, this incredible landscape restoration is a huge step toward realizing a healthier community and the vision of Magnuson as a great and vibrant urban park," the Parks website says.
