UW Botanic Gardens’ Center for Urban Horticulture (3501 NE 41st Street) is having a free class called "Green Slime Needs Love, Too" tonight from 6:30pm-8pm.
The class information says:
Within a block of your house, there are hundreds of ditches, birdbaths, ponds, and waterspouts full of mucky green slime, yet almost no-one knows there is an exotically beautiful world in these gobs and blobs. Come and meet the beautiful and savage creatures of the Botanic Gardens' ponds, slime and muck, and learn about the international fellowship of amateur microscopists.
Meet the creatures who began life on Earth, learn how to keep a pet leech, and be introduced to the flying clams that live on mountaintops. In addition, learn how to buy an old microscope, a large spoon, and become one of the definitely peculiar individuals who wanders around marshes after dark in rubbers and a floppy hat, annoying the frogs.
